Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

Title: Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga
Released: 2020
Rated: PG-13

Eurovision Song Contest: the Story of Fire Saga is a Netflix original movie that was released on June 26th. Let’s face it, 2020 has been a ding dong of a year because of coronavirus and (in Salt Lake City) the big earthquake we had back in March.  What made this year not so bad is that we got this show starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, who play an Icelandic couple who grew up in Iceland and want to compete in the Eurovision song contest.

You are probably wondering what the Eurovision song contest is. Let’s see… Eurovision was first started back in 1956 and has been playing every year for about 64 years, and has 52 countries that compete in the contest. Thanks to coronavirus pandemic this is the very first year since Eurovision started that it had to be cancelled! There are some big names who have competed in Eurovision like ABBA, Verka Serduchka, Netta Barzilai, and we first heard this guy Daði Freyr sing Think About Things as a song he entered in the Eurovision song contest.

I recommend watching this amazing and funny film – if this doesn’t get an Oscar for original song for Husavik – My Home Town I swear it deserves it. It’s like the new Never Enough from The Greatest Showman. After watching the movie I will also will be singing Ja Ja Ding Dong, Double Trouble, and Husavik for like 24/7.

Oh! And how can I forget to mention the amazing Songalong in the movie featuring past winners and contestants!!!!

Things you can look for in the movie:

  • Sigrit always has two drinks, when she has a drink
  • Take the elves seriously, don’t even talk about them badly
  • Sigrit is definitely not Lars’ sister
